The Rural Payments Agency's (RPA) Annual Report and Accounts was published today.

The report highlights aspects of RPA's performance and activities for the year 1 April 2008 - 31 March 2009.

Tony Cooper, RPA's Chief Executive said: "We have made good progress over the past year in meeting all of our externally published targets.
The challenges ahead include upgrading the Rural Land Register, implementing the policy changes from the Common Agricultural Policy Health Check and tackling the issues identified by European Commission auditors and the National Audit Office”.

The report acknowledges that a key theme for RPA in 2008-09 has been making our services more consistent and reliable and meeting our targets for payment of SPS 2008.
