RPA has met its first 2009 Single Payment Scheme (SPS) target of making 75% of full payments by value, six weeks ahead of its formal target date of the end of January 2010.
Latest figures, published today, show that the total value of payments made under SPS for 2009 is just over £1.4 billion which is just under 76% of the estimated total fund of £1.86 billion.
Over 89,700 customers have received a full SPS payment. This represents over 83% of the estimated total claimant population of 107,500.
RPA is working hard to finalise checks on the remaining claims and is aiming to pay farmers as quickly as possible.
Notes to Editors
The agency continues to work towards making more payments to more farmers earlier than last year, with a view to meeting its remaining formal 2009 SPS target of making 90% of full payments, by value, by the end of March 2010.
RPA is an executive agency of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). It is the single paying agency responsible for CAP schemes in England and is responsible for administering the Single Payment Scheme. Other key services include carrying out rural inspections and livestock tracing.
