Butter for Manufacture

Welcome to the scheme information page for Butter for Manufacture.
The aim of this scheme was to dispose of surplus butterfat by encouraging manufacturers to use butter in manufactured products in preference to cheaper vegetable oils.
Subsidy was paid on butter, butteroil and cream processed into certain eligible products (cakes, biscuits, ice cream, soup etc) within regulatory time scales. The scheme was operated on a tender procedure, and either open market or intervention product could be incorporated into the scheme.
Tenders under this scheme were suspended from 12 September 2007 by Regulation (EC) 1039/20007.
The scheme was formally abolished in the Cap Healthcheck & regulation 1898/2005 was repealed by Commission
Regulation(EC) no 452/2009 in May 2009
