Butter for non-profit-making Organisations

Knife cutting butter

Welcome to the scheme information page for butter for non-profit-making organisations.

The aim of this scheme was to maintain a level of utilisation of open market butter by enabling certain categories of consumers to purchase the butter at a reduced price.

The aid was paid to butter packers for unsalted or salted butter sold on a monthly basis to non-profit making organisations (educational or caring establishments) and was controlled through the use of a certificate of entitlement.

The Scheme was formally abolished in the CAP healthcheck, and regulation 1898/2005 was repealed by Commission Regulation (EC) No. 452/2009 in May 2009.
