Uplands Transitional Payment

The Upland Transitional Payment (UTP) is designed to ensure that those farmers unable to benefit from the new strand of Environmental Stewardship (Uplands Entry Level Stewardship) which succeeds the Hill Farm Allowance, continue to receive specific uplands support.

Along with Uplands Entry Level Stewardship, it aims to make sure that agriculture continues to make its irreplaceable contribution to rural society and the managed environment of the English uplands by compensating farmers for the difficulties of farming in the Severely Disadvantage Areas (SDA).
