Background
2. During the 2007/2008 ITQ period traders in the beef sector continued to be faced with severe practical difficulties to source the products before the end of the ITQ period.

3. In view of these particular circumstances, the securities lodged in relation to import rights, not used by 1 July 2008, can be released.
Eligibility
4. Traders eligible are those who obtained import rights for the importation of bovine meat within the import tariff quotas referred to in:

- Commission Regulation (EC) No 529/2007; and

- Commission Regulation (EC) No 545/2007.
Application for Release of Security
5. You can request, in writing, for your allocation security to be released. You should list:

- the quota name (ITQ or GATT);

- your trader registration number; and

- the remaining security to be released.

6. The Block Guarantee statement that is emailed to traders to allow them to monitor licence security transactions can, on this occasion, be used to notify us of the import rights which require the security to be released. You can register to receive Block Guarantee statements by email by contacting Steve Delaney on 0118 9531723.
