16/08/06 - Single Payment Scheme (SPS) update

Figures released today show 111,271 claimants (95.53%) have now received a total of £1.471 billion (97.12%) in full or 80% partial payments.

Of the estimated 5,203 claimants who have yet to receive a payment, approximately 238 are currently in the priority one category (having a claim value of more than €1,000 or £682), including 69 complex cases which involve issues such as probate and liquidation. RPA managers are in contact with these priority one customers to resolve any claim issues wherever possible. As claims advance through the processing cycle, values are liable to be updated and consequently some may enter the over €1,000 priority one category.

In parallel, work continues to develop and test the mechanism to calculate and pay interest payments for those customers who received payments after the 30 June regulatory deadline, including those still awaiting full or top-up payments.

In view of the sums remaining to be paid, these reports are now published at fortnightly intervals and the next update will, therefore, appear on 30 August.
