Approved Third Country Imports
Article 15 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 543/2011 allows third countries to apply to the Commission for approval of their conformity checking systems prior to importation of regulated produce into the Community. Once approved the third country inspection body may issue a certificate of conformity which will allow customs clearance into the EU. The procedure for third country approval is outlined in Article 195(2) or Regulation (EC) No 1234/2007.
The following countries have had their Inspection operations approved by the Commission:
Israel, India, Kenya, Morocco, New Zealand, Senegal, Switzerland, South Africa & Turkey
