14 Jan 2009 - Ref 02/09
Latest figures, published today, show that the total value of payments made under the Single Payment Scheme (SPS) for 2008 are just under £1.1 billion which is 67.4% of the estimated total fund of £1.63 billion.
Just over 84,000 customers have received a full SPS payment.
This represents 78.9% of the estimated total claimant population of 106,500.
RPA is working towards making more full payments to more farmers earlier than last year, with a view to meeting its formal targets of making 75% of SPS 2008 payments, by value, by the end of January 2009 and 90% by the end of March 2009.
Notes to Editors
RPA is an executive agency of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). It is the single paying agency responsible for CAP schemes in England and is responsible for administering the Single Payment Scheme (SPS). Other key services include carrying out rural inspections and livestock tracing.
Those farmers who applied for Aid for Energy Crops in 2008 and have not yet returned their delivery notification form (ENC 9) are reminded to return them to RPA as soon as possible. Any delay in returning the form may mean a delay to their 2008 SPS payment. A copy of the ENC 9 form is available from www.rpa.gov.uk by following the links from Energy Aid Payments under RPA Schemes.
