29/04/10 ~ Cross Compliance update to Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition (GAEC) 1 - Soil Protection Review (SPR)
The cross compliance advice service have produced a video which advises how farmers should approach their 2010 Soil Protection Review (SPR). Defra published a revised SPR template on January 1, 2010, superseding earlier versions. The video highlights the recent changes to help make sure claimants understand the new SPR and provides a guide to soil texturing that will assist this process.

The new SPR template and the new accompanying edition of the Single Payment Scheme Cross Compliance Guidance for Soil Management document are available for download. Hard copies are available from the Customer Service Centre on 0845 603 7777. There is also an Excel version of the SPR available for use.
The SPR can also be completed online via Defra’s whole farm approach website, www.wholefarm.defra.gov.uk.
