Guidance you need to read

SPS handbook and supplement

Read the 2014 supplement and the 2013 handbook (including the ‘Extra guidance on dual use of land’) to make sure you meet the scheme rules for 2014.

The SPS 2014 supplement has important reminders about things to check for. It also tells you about some new things that will affect SPS 2014 payments.

The supplement isn’t a full handbook and isn’t a replacement for the ‘Single Payment Scheme Handbook for England 2013’.

The Guide to Cross Compliance

As well as the main scheme rules, SPS is based on maintaining land and the environment in Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition (GAEC).

You must also meet legal requirements about:

  • public, animal and plant health
  • the environment
  • animal welfare

We call these rules ‘cross compliance’. Read the complete edition of the cross compliance guidance.
